Hi, I'm Jenna, owner and head dyer of Southern Skeins. I started dyeing yarn in 2016 in my kitchen for my own use. As a lot of solo small business owners I worked a full-time job, as an IT Project Manager, until 2020 when I decided to work full-time growing Southern Skeins. I wanted to make hand dyed yarn more accessible to everyone, as best I could, I offer a great product at a great price. I believe luxurious hand dyed yarn doesn't have to be expensive.

As for our team, my son helps me with packing and shipping (and he's starting to learn to dye yarn too!). We have a dedicated dye studio (no more kitchen dyeing) at our home so that we don't have the overhead of monthly rent of a warehouse to help keep costs down and pass them along to you.

When does the yarn ship?

The yarn ships between the 15th and 20th of each month.

When will I be charged?

You will be invoiced on the 25th of the month (or every third month if quarterly delivery is selected). You will receive an email notification three (3) days prior to your auto bill so you can make any changes to your subscription. Changes made after the payment processes will be effective the next month. You will be auto billed on the 5th of each following month unless you cancel or pause your subscription.

Do you ship internationally?

No, we only ship within the USA.

How do I cancel or pause my subscription?

You can log into your account that you made upon sign up (or if you prefer email us at contact@southernskeins.com) at least 3 days prior to when your account autobills for the next shipment.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Shop Pay, Pay Pal, Google Pay, and Major Credit Cards

Which yarn bases do you offer?

We offer a choice of our Southern Sock or Southern DK

Southern Sock (75% 19.5 Micron Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Nylon) is a 3-ply yarn with a nice twist. Each 100 gram skein has 463 yards and each 20 gram mini has 90 yards.

Southern DK (75% Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Nylon) is a 3-ply yarn with a nice twist. Each 100 gram skeins is 245 yards and each 20 gram mini is 49 yards.

What's in the box?

Each month you will receive a 100 gram skein and a 20 gram mini skein in your choice of sock or DK weight yarn. Two free knitting patterns are included each month (one is part of an annual 'join anytime knit-a-long' and the second pattern is a quick one skein project. There is also an exclusive discount code of our members to use each month to purchase our in-stock items, and a goodie bag filled with wonderful little treats for your knitting projects.

Where is the yarn dyed?

It's dyed by me in my dedicated home based dye studio in Tallahassee, Florida.

What does shipping cost?

Shipping is free. I ship via USPS with tracking numbers that you will receive via email when your order ships out.

Returns / Exchanges

Due to the nature of the subscripton box, we do not offer returns or exchanges. There are photos of previous boxes to give you a feel for our dyeing style and colors.
