Yarn Chicken Anyone?

by Jenna Eddy on April 18, 2023

Have you ever had a knitting project where you ran out of yarn before you finished it? It's the worst! That's why I always make sure to have enough yarn before I start a project.

One time I was knitting a scarf for my mom's birthday present. I thought I had enough yarn, but as I was nearing the end of the project, I started to get worried. Sure enough, I ran out of yarn with just a few inches left to go. I had to scramble to find the same yarn in the same dye lot so that I could finish the scarf. It was stressful and took a lot of time and effort to fix.

So now I always make sure to have plenty of yarn on hand before I start a project. It's much less stressful that way, and I can focus on enjoying the knitting process instead of worrying about running out of yarn. My rule of thumb is 10% extra then what I think I’ll need.

Happy Yarning! - Jenna
